Blog Journal #10

My Personal Learning Network has grown a lot since the beginning of this semester. A lot of it has stayed the same, I continue to learn from teachers on social media, from past teachers and my mom, a veteran teacher. However, I have learned so many new resources for teacher professional development, things I want to use in my future classroom, and I have made even more teacher connections that I can't wait to learn from. I am completing my internship next semester in first grade, and I now have a mentor teacher who will be a very big part of my PLN. I can't wait to continue learning and I am grateful for all this class has taught me.  I think data collection tools like Qualtrics are a great resource for teachers. I feel like teachers of any grade level could use surveys for feedback on how they can best serve their students. To tailor it towards each grade, you would just have to make the questions a little different or easier to understand for the younger kids. I think there a...

My experiences with distance learning in K-12 were mostly during COVID, where we had to use Zoom and Schoology as our main learning platforms. Zoom helped us stay connected to each other for class, but I found it harder to focus than if I was in the classroom.  Schoology was probably the most effective tool because it was our all-in-one learning platform and kept everything organized and easy to find. I learned how to organize my information into a professional and clear way to communicate with families. I used design principles like contrast and consistency. I tried to keep the colors simple and have the added color come from the pictures for contrast and consistency. I liked getting to be creative with concepts that I will definitely need to learn for my future class media.  I can't wait to put these skills into practice to better serve my students and their parents.  One way I might use QR codes in my classroom is integrating it into learning centers to make them more engaging. I could set up something like a QR code reading area where students could scan a code to listen to a read-aloud story or watch short videos about phonics. At a math learning center, they could scan a code to check answers or do chall...
