Blog Journal #10
My Personal Learning Network has grown a lot since the beginning of this semester. A lot of it has stayed the same, I continue to learn from teachers on social media, from past teachers and my mom, a veteran teacher. However, I have learned so many new resources for teacher professional development, things I want to use in my future classroom, and I have made even more teacher connections that I can't wait to learn from. I am completing my internship next semester in first grade, and I now have a mentor teacher who will be a very big part of my PLN. I can't wait to continue learning and I am grateful for all this class has taught me.
I think data collection tools like Qualtrics are a great resource for teachers. I feel like teachers of any grade level could use surveys for feedback on how they can best serve their students. To tailor it towards each grade, you would just have to make the questions a little different or easier to understand for the younger kids. I think there are also ways to use them to make learning fun and incorporate surveys into some sort of activity depending on the topic.
A technology related goal I want to learn next is how to seamlessly transition between different programs when teaching. For example, I work at a school now and it takes me a while to even log into the teachers computer and get everything loaded. I know this is just because I'm only using a few programs and it's not my computer with saved logins, etc. but I want to be able to quickly open the next thing I need for the students. I think this just takes time and practice and I assume that I will be better at this when I have my own classroom technology and know what I need to have open and ready for a successful school day.
