One major technology implementation issue in classrooms is academic dishonesty. In my future classroom, I will address this by creating assignments that focus on creativity, which will encourage students to think of their own ideas rather than using someone else's. I would also implement plagiarism checkers if needed, to ensure students are doing their own work. The thing I think is most important is talking to my students about why honesty matters and help them understand that for a life lesson.
I have learned about copyright and fair use in school, so it is interesting to see it in a new way when thinking about it as a teacher. I would make sure to use only media that qualifies for fair use or that I have permission for. It can be easy to forget that even things like pictures have rules, and problems can arise when you use them without permission. I will teach students to respect other people's work and give credit when they use someone else's creations and ideas.
The newsletter design assignment taught me a lot about how to best organize information and make materials that are fun and easy to read for families, but also serve as a tool for all the important notes about the upcoming week in our class. I became a lot more familiar with Word by using columns, headings, and different sections to highlight what students are learning and what parents need to know each week. I can improve on newsletters by making them even more organized and visually appealing, but I am proud of how my first one turned out. These skills will be very useful in my future teaching career to help me efficiently communicate with families and create engaging materials for students.
